Tonight we attended the 2nd Grade Winter Concert to see Luke and friends in action. We had a great time and I left feeling thankful, yet again, that we fell into such a good school experience with this move. The school is small (or at least it seems really small after the massiveness of our school in Knoxville) and has a real family feel. After only a half year here, I feel like we know a bunch of the families from his class. As I was watching them sing together up on the stage, I realized that he will graduate from high school with some of these kids. We've never been able to think that far ahead before knowing that more moves were in our future. I am just so glad to be settling in and establishing roots somewhere.
Ben captured these pictures for us from the side of the gym and I love that Luke's two favorite friends just happened to be standing in front of him. Sammy is the girl in pink and she is Luke's best bud at school. She is also new this year and incredibly clever. Calvin is the kid directly in front of her. Luke plays with Calvin after school all of the time because his grandmother babysits him every day after school and she lives right around the corner from us. He is a little spacey, but really kind hearted; Ben says he is like the sitcom goofy kid next door. Both kids are really good, sweet friends to Luke and full of personality.
