It's our last full day in Decatur for a while.

It has been a wonderful trip. The first week and a half were completely full of activity as we tried to squeeze as many wonderful people and activities into our time as we could. We had two or three fun activities going on each and every day and we loved every second of it.

In contrast, this past week has been so relaxing with lots of playing and resting and taking it easy. I can count on one hand the number of times I have left my parent's house since Sunday afternoon.

We've logged dozens of hours of playtime. We've watched movies. We've read books. Gracie and I have learned to crochet. Gracie and Luke have learned how to play Chase the Ace and Solitaire. Drew has been happily occupied with my brother's old Matchbox cars. I have read three novels and too many magazines to count. We've caught up on much-needed sleep. We've gone to my dad's workshop to play pool. We've visited with cousins and aunts and uncles and friends. Drew and I have had an early-morning breakfast every morning with my mom. We've had art sessions on the kitchen floor.

(Unfortunately we've also dealt with a bit of sickness this week, but that's not quite as much fun to write about. As I told Luke today, though, if you have to be sick somewhere, Gram and Grandpa's house is a pretty fun place to be sick at. Extra people to spoil you until you feel better!)

As I gathered our things today in preparation to leave tomorrow morning, Gracie kept asking variations of the questions "Why can't we just move to Decatur?" and "Why do we have to live in Knoxville?" My multiple attempts at explanation about Ben's job weren't cutting it for her. I know two kids who are not going to be happy campers around noon tomorrow.

As for me, I am feeling equal parts sad to leave and ready to be back in my own house after being house guests (very messy, noisy house guests at that!) for seventeen days. My parents and Patti and Paul have been the most perfect hosts, but this homebody is ready to be home. And ready for them to visit Knoxville so I can return the hospitality.

Many pictures to come soon....
