a happy list
Life is good around here today. We're having one of those smooth and easy and happy days. It's only 9:45, but now that our days are starting so early, it feels much later. If everyone in the house is cleaned up, dressed, and fed by the time we leave for school at 7:15, I feel like it's lunchtime by the time it is 10:00! We'll adjust...
The boys are happily playing trains at my feet, the coffee pot is making me a second yummy cup of goodness for the morning, the washer is running, the radio is playing, Ben and Gracie are off having hopefully fun and productive days......I'm just content.
It's the little things making me happy these days. Things like-
* sewing projects
* new school clothes
* afternoon craft projects with the kids (yesterday we made puppets)
* less humid days
* white chicken chili for dinner and Luke declaring it "the yummiest thing ever ever"
* watching movies on the couch with Ben
* Yankee Candles
* the anticipation of fall
* Luke's excitement over starting soccer next week
* play dates with new friends
* Gracie arriving home from school yesterday full of smiles and stories
* hearing Luke's chatter with my dad on the phone last night
* Drew's new little phrases (this week it is "Brudder Wude!" (brother rude!)every time that Luke does something he doesn't like)
* randomly meeting someone this morning while walking Gracie into school who moved here from Indianapolis nine years ago
* new magazines
* finding out that Gracie's bus stop after school is at the end of our driveway
* cards from friends
* music that makes me stop whatever I'm doing just to enjoy it
* fluffy bedspreads and a fan next to the bed
* hearing Luke's prayer at lunch yesterday- "Dear God, thank You for the food at this table and the people in this room.......and for Gracie being home from school to play with me."
* Gracie's happiness last night over getting to pack a lunch again
* sourdough bread
* coming up with a facebook solution I am happy with (I deactivated my account a couple of weeks ago because I felt I was wasting too much time on facebook. Since then, I have realized how often I use facebook to email with people. I reactivated my account, but "hid" about 75% of the people I am friends with, thus allowing me to email everyone, but preventing me from spending too much time looking at pictures and reading status updates.)
* the instant satisfaction I feel from picking up toys in the playroom- in ten minutes the room can go from a disaster area to a nice playroom (though I think the kids think it is a nicer playroom when there are toys everywhere...)
* fresh summer fruit
* the way that Drew fell asleep with a car in his hand last night
Hope your day is full of enjoyment of the simple things as well!
