Lunch Bunch
Drew and a friend are attending the extended day "Lunch Bunch" option at preschool today. We've never done it before, but basically, it is an extra two hours of school that involves a sack lunch, a game, and free play in the big room and Drew has been eager to give it a try.
His excitement for Lunch Bunch and for packing his lunch for Lunch Bunch has been just adorable. In fact, he wanted to pack his lunch last Friday (six days early) as soon as we had him signed up. I told him it would be better to wait to make the sandwich the night before, so he has been counting down. On Wednesday morning when I said "good morning" to him, he responded with, "Tonight I get to pack my lunch for Lunch Bunch!"
Since he watches Gracie and Luke pack lunches each night, he knew exactly what he wanted in his lunch. He was sure that he wanted Chex Mix, applesauce, carrot sticks, and a peanut butter and honey sandwich, and he was even more sure that he wanted to put it all together by himself.
It feels pretty odd to have him still at school right now at 12:30 in the afternoon. Katie is getting a much-needed nap before some fun plans this evening and the house is so, so quiet. I enjoy the quiet, but am looking forward to picking him up in a little while to hear how it went.
