Katie's dream woke her up around 4:30 this morning. Actually, since she has been my roommate for most of this week with Ben gone, her dream woke us both up. As much as I would have rather been sleeping, I still couldn't help but laugh at her reaction to whatever was going on in her sleep.
She first got my attention with kicking her feet. Then I heard her say, "It IS the zoo!!!" This was followed by a little mumbling before she yelled, "NO! Don't spit on me! I told you that IS NOT NICE!!" I stayed quiet to see if she would wake up or fall back asleep, but then she sat up and said, "I wanted my tiara!"
Silly girl.
We stayed in bed for a bit, but finally agreed that we would get up. Now it is 6:37 in the morning and I feel like I have been up for hours. The other three are, of course, sleeping in a bit this morning and Katie and I are the only ones up. We've watched Dora, had breakfast, read a couple of books, and she is currently playing with her Little People princesses. As is always the case when I have a quiet house to myself, I am enjoying the time with coffee and my laptop.
It's been a really strange week here. There has been so much out- of- the- ordinary happening on top of all of our ordinary that it has been a bit overwhelming. Ben has had the busiest week of work that he has had in a long time- and that is really saying something. We've seen him about five hours total since last Sunday night. For lots of reasons, there have been some awful night's of sleep around here. There have been multiple activities each day and the kids had a babysitter twice this week- not normal for us at all. Most of all, we've been consumed with worry about Paul, who spent some time in the hospital earlier in the week.
I am looking forward to a quiet day ahead. The kids are on Spring Break and the only plans for today are Luke's last basketball game and team party and a visit from Bridget, Will, and Taylor. Ben has another busy week next week, so I want to soak in some time with him while we can.
