{class ski trip}

Tonight's multi-store trip to find nice gloves for Gracie for her class ski trip tomorrow was completely a bust. Despite the fact that it is 25 degrees outside with at least six more weeks of winter weather ahead of us, there was next to no winter gear left in any of the stores we visited. (If we had needed shorts or a swimsuit for her, though, we would have been fine. Retail logic makes no sense to me.) The last store we went to, Sports Authority, did have a few nice gloves left, but I couldn't justify spending $65.00 on a pair of North Face gloves for a ten year old who has a tendency to misplace things. Call me crazy.

We weren't too thrilled about spending our night searching for gloves- and man, was it cold getting into and out of the car so many times on this frigid night!-  but a pull through of Arby's at the end of the night made everyone much more pleasant. And, truthfully, Gracie would have happily stopped ten more places if I would have been game. I don't think anything could damper her spirits about tomorrow. I don't think she was this excited on Christmas Eve! She has talked of little else all week and couldn't be any more excited about her first chance to get to ski tomorrow.

I am so happy for her and wish that I could experience it with her.

On an unrelated note, I am typing next to Drew as he falls asleep. Gracie and Luke are downstairs keeping an eye on Katie for me and I have no idea what they are laughing about, but all I can hear is laughter, hiccups, and more laughter.
