{Christmas date night}
Keeping watch over a sick child means a lot of time on my laptop today. Though she is finally starting to perk up, there were many hours of today when Katie got upset if I left her sight. I have spent hours on the living room floor next to the little nest of towels and blankets we made for her to hang out in.
I have edited pictures, pretend- ordered dozens of items for our home, gotten ridiculously sentimental looking back over old blog posts, discovered a couple of new blogs, and spent more time than is normal on Facebook. I am now sufficiently bored with the Internet.
As I was looking back over pictures from the past couple of weeks, it occurred to me that I never documented the fun night that Ben and I had a couple of days before Christmas. I have no picture to share to make this post more interesting- apologies in advance.
For Christmas this year, I surprised Ben with a date night. Our favorite sitter was available to hang out with the kids while we went for a couples massage- something Ben has been hinting about wanting to do for years. It was better than wonderful. After the massage, we went out to dinner at The Block, a restaurant in Old Webster that Ben has been wanting to try ever since we moved here. It was, also, better than wonderful. I am still thinking about the dish I had two weeks later. We enjoyed a long dinner complete with drinks and appetizers.
I think Ben enjoyed his gift. He hinted that it should become a Christmas tradition. It was more than a bit of a splurge for just a few hours of fun, but his enjoyment and some time together made it worth it.
