{magic words}

It seems as if having a newborn is the ticket to getting into your ideal pediatrician's office.

The entire time we have lived here, we have had a 25 minute drive to our pediatrician. Not a huge deal, I guess, but we literally drive past one office of our same pediatric group-two minutes from our house- to get onto the highway and drive to a branch considerably farther away. I tried and tried to get a closer doctor, but nobody was accepting new patients.

With a newborn coming soon and all of the doctor visits that will entail, I phoned the close-to-home branch to ask if they were accepting new patients yet. I was again told that the office was not accepting any new patients.

And then I said what must have been the magic words- "I am expecting a baby in May."

All of the sudden, with those magic words, not only were they ready to take on the new baby on as a patient, they were willing to transfer the other three children to that office as well.

I don't understand it, but I am thrilled about it.

I just got a phone call from the new pediatrician welcoming us to the group.
