It's been an early morning at our house. Kids + colds = restless nights. As I sit here, though, sipping a hot drink and listening to the kids talk over their scrambled eggs in the dining room, I feel ridiculously blessed by this little life of mine.
Don't you love those mornings when you wake up in an amazingly good life-is-wonderful, bring-on-my-day kind of mood?
Ben and I went out to dinner last night while the kids played at home with a babysitter. As we stuffed our bellies with Italian food and talked about everything going on in our family these days, I was reminded just how much I love the man I am married to. The way he can make me laugh. The way that he works so hard to provide a comfortable life for us. The way that he listens to me. The way that in one sentence we can share a memory from junior high and in the next imagine what our daughter will be like as a teenager. I can't imagine sharing my life with anyone else.
We got home from dinner and all three kids were happy to see us. Drew excitedly told me about playing cars and Gracie and Luke were bubbly and happy. We put on pajamas, read books together, and got everyone tucked into bed. Ben and I curled up to watch some mindless Thursday night Tivo. After a couple of minutes, Drew- who had taken a 3.5 hour nap- wandered to the living room for a little cuddling as he tried to get sleepy. A full belly, a soft couch, a snuggly two-year old, and laughter made for a pretty nice end to my day.
One of my goals in life is to recognize and appreciate the many blessings I have been given. Some days make that pretty easy to do.
Happy almost-weekend! I hope your day is a great one!
