perfect Saturday

Describe a perfect Saturday.

We've had some pretty perfect Saturdays this summer, so this is kind of a compilation of those days. I opted for a typical Saturday, not one where we were out of town or doing something over-the-top.

An ideal Saturday would be-
We would all wake up around seven after a great night of sleep. The weather would be a little bit cool- none of the mugginess we've been living with for the past couple of months! In our comfy clothes, we'd head out for bagels and coffee. We'd spend a couple of hours running errands- definitely browsing through a book store and hitting a couple of garage sales. (Gracie and Luke have developed my love of garage sales, so this would actually be fun for them as well!)

We'd head back here around ten to get cleaned up for the day. Since we've been spoiled lately with out-of-town guests, this Saturday would also include some friends and family arriving for a visit. They would arrive just in time to go somewhere great for the afternoon- I'll pick yummy Italian food somewhere where we could eat on a patio and then off to a pumpkin patch or state park for an afternoon outside in beautiful weather. I'd spend the afternoon taking pictures.

That night we would have a cookout at our house and spend the evening drinking wine, laughing, and talking. Since it is my ideal day, I get to choose that the kids would go to bed at eight o'clock with absolutely no struggle and the entire evening would be ours to just relax and enjoy.

I would like to have a baby this Saturday. I would then follow it up with a smoker full of pork and a fridge full of beer and pies.

That's what I want for a Saturday right now.

In response to Ben's answer....

My ideal Saturday would NOT include being in labor!
I had to read Ben's response twice...just to make sure he really said that. Quite the combination there Ben, baby + smoked pork + beer and pie.

I think our perfect Saturday would be pretty similar except I'd bring the bagels home and I would be able to read the paper in peace and drink my coffee! We'd do something fun like go to a football game and the weather would be just a little cool and we'd end it by having a fire pit with our friends and enjoying a few beverages.

did he mean smoked baby pork?
Hmmm. He did say "I would like to have a baby this Saturday" so maybe you're off the hook Les! Let him do the work this time.

Would "smoked baby pork" mean piglets? Yuck!

apparently you have never heard bens theory that he likes beef but veal is more delicious he loves pork so imagine how great baby pig must be

logical but pretty gross huh?

Saturday is the only day that neither Paul or I have to go to work - so it's nice to wake up to his snorning sweet self. I'd give him and the dog - also snuggled with us, a quick kiss and head to the shower. A perfect Saturday always starts with the gym! I'd get there early, all my buddies would arrive, my bike would be front and center and in perfect working order. Spinning class would last for 90 minutes (a once a month occurence)and I would be sweaty and exhilarated when it was done. "Body Pump" would follow - nothing would hurt and I would add extra weight to the bar. I'd leave the gym with plans to meet for a girls night out later in the week.

I wouldn't have to stop by work, because everything would be caught up and under control - hey, it's my PERFECT Saturday! The house would be clean, the lawn mowed and the kids would be heading over for lunch. We'd eat and those needing naps (Papa and Luke) would head to the bedrooms to snooze. I'd shower and we'd play or read or do an art project with Grace, Leslie and Bridget until napping is done.
Then we'd pack up dogs, kids and family and head to Fort Daniel for a nature walk. Fort Daniel is dog and kid heaven - Della and Buck can run and swim and chase wildlife and we usually have it all to ourselves. And the leaves will be changing...
Back home to a cookout; chilli and hot dogs, Pam's "Smoosh", Koski coolers, s'mores, washers, jumping on the trampoline, swinging and a baby to cuddle. Lots of laughing and story telling and Obama would be 10 points ahead in the polls and gaining steam as we head to bed. And Paul would have Sunday off.
Nini,
Just give me the date and time and we'll be there. And I do so love the Obama up by 10pts!

On my perfect Saturday, I would choose to wake up in a tent, to the smell of bacon cooking on a wood fire and the laughter of friends and family as they replayed the previous evening's campfire camraderie.

It would be a beautiful, crisp fall day where the sun magnifies the brilliant red and gold colored leaves. There would be a charming little town nearby holding a fall festival and a city-wide garage sale. After browsing all morning, we would stop for lunch at a quaint tea room.

The afternoon would be spent hiking through the woods to find a secluded waterfall. While there, we would meet two groups of fellow campers: one group of blues musicians, and the other a couple of Swedish guys studying to be masseuses.

Then we would all head back to the campground for some of Ben's delicious smoked meat and taters and onions fried crispy on the outside and tender inside.

Following the impromptu blues session, Sven would offer free massages to all.

anonymous...is your name Chad?

Nope. Guess again.

Chad told me he would rather have Ole give him a massage. His hands are much softer.

I guess Meaghan or Kelly
I started to guess Sandi but then saw "tent" and knew it wasn't her. Pam? The post did include garage sales.
