post-sleepover hangover

Gracie spent the night at a friend's house last night for the first time ever. She had so much fun! They swam, played baby dolls, played Barbies, played dress up, baked and decorated cookies, and watched a movie. I was a bit worried as to how she would handle being there once it was time to go to bed, but she called me to say good night and the report is that she went immediately to sleep and slept through the night (I will admit that I slept with the phone next to my pillow, anticipating a midnight phone call!)

I feared that we would pay the price today for her late night of excitement; I had braced myself for crankiness and fighting with Luke. I'm thrilled to say there has been none of it. She's been pretty darn pleasant ever since she got home at eleven. Yay.

Luke enjoyed a special night with us while Gracie was off having her fun. We asked him what he'd like to do, and at first our little homebody said he wanted to stay home and play, but we talked him into an outing. We hit the dollar store and let him pick out three treasures (a magnifying glass, pretend bugs for his sand table, and a Mickey Mouse figurine). We ran a couple of errands, browsed Barnes and Noble for a new Superhero book, then went for an ice cream cone. He had a great time and so did we.

We're planning on enjoying a quiet weekend here in Indi....dinner tonight with a few neighbors, a Trane cookout tomorrow night, and lots of time to rest and play at home. Hopefully we'll get a few things accomplished in the nursery as well.

Hope you all have a great weekend-
