This post never got written yesterday- too much going on all day! A day late……

1. Ben has said three times in the past two days that he is getting an itch to start another house project. This makes me ridiculously happy.

2. One of my four little chickadees is having a really rough week. Call it vacation withdrawal, call it summer boredom, or call it testing some limits, but whatever it is called, it can also be called frustrating. Interestingly, this same little guy had a really rough couple of weeks at about the same point in the summer last summer.

3. Katie has begun to say "don it!!" (darn it!) when she is frustrated and it cracks me up.  Luke asked me last week, "Is it okay that she says it? It's not like a bad word or anything, right?" I answered that it probably wasn't the nicest thing that she could say, but that it was fine. He replied, "Good. Because it is soooo cute!" I agree, bud.

4.  It is really really great to have so much relaxed time in our schedule right now. I knew baseball made things busy, but I might not have fully realized just how busy until it all stopped. It is glorious to have stretches of days in a row with nothing on the calendar.

5. My soon- to- be kindergartener excitedly picked out a lunch box at Target today. I can't believe he will be off to kindergarten in a month. (…and see #2 above to see why this has me a little nervous.)

6.  I got my back-to-school letter from the preschool where I'll be working this year and it made me feel more than a little excited. It won't be a "real" teaching gig, but it will be fun to work with other adults, many of whom I already know and like.

7. We can not go to the library these days without having a seven or eight dollar fine. I don't know why we can't get our act together when it comes to library books.

8. Gracie and Luke were away in Decatur this weekend and it felt so strange to be without them. They had a wonderful time with Ben's parents, though, and I am glad they got a little big kid attention. (And it was nice to focus on just our littles for the weekend.)

9. I've been a little spoiled by lack of work travel on Ben's part over the past month or so. He has only been gone a couple of nights total. I keep telling myself not to get too used to it, or it will be a rude awakening when it starts back up in September.

10. Gracie and Luke (but especially Gracie) have begun to enjoy watching old "Little House on the Prairie" episodes and I love it. It is fun to curl up with them to something we can enjoy together. (So much better than the junk on the Disney channel!)

11. Drew is very into the Ramona Quimby series right now.  I don't especially love the Ramona books, but I sure love cuddling with him each night when we read together.

12. It was an odd feeling tonight at a cookout we went to when I looked around the room and realized that almost everyone had children younger than mine. Katie was middle of the road in terms of the ages of the children at the party- I can think of seven children in attendance younger than her. Gracie and Luke were by far the oldest children at the party. This was not a good thing or a bad thing, just not something I am used to.

I think #7 comes from the Ross genes.
