{gratitude for ordinary days}

I am sitting on Kate's bed with her while she falls asleep- a habit we've gotten into that I was sure I was going to avoid with child #4….- and thinking about what a nice day it has been. Not special nice, just ordinary nice. I sit here in the darkness typing and just feeling so much gratitude for this life that I have.

Some of the moments in this ordinary day that filled me with appreciation:

Luke had a friend over to play for the day and both boys included Drew in their play. All three boys got along wonderfully and were just easy. This is not always the case when we have friends over. I am thankful for sweet friends for my kids.

Gracie also had a friend over to play. This friend is a lot more "tween" than Gracie and it was evident by the attitude the girl showed her mom while being dropped off. Holy moly! I am thankful that I have a great relationship with my Gracie.

I sewed and worked on etsy stuff for about two hours this afternoon while Katie played Play-doh, then blocks, then Frozen dolls. I am thankful that Katie is content playing independently. Not all of the kids have this personality trait.

Luke got invited to the Muny and a sleepover tonight and he was so excited. When the friend and his mom came to get Luke, he said to the mom- without a reminder from me- "Thank you so much for inviting me to go with you!  I am so excited!" I am thankful for kids who are learning to show gratitude and appreciation.

Ben came home from work tonight and we took Grace, Drew, and Katie out for tacos and to grab a few things we needed from the store. I am thankful for a husband who can make Nacho Mamas and a trip to Target feel like a fun Friday night.

Have a wonderful weekend! Ours is pretty open in the very nicest way.
