The Seven Steps To Hosting A Party, according to Leslie Hedenberg

I will start this post on hosting with this ridiculous picture because it kind of fits.
And because it makes us laugh.
And because I always cook boxed macaroni and cheese in a pretty dress and heels. ha!
Ben took this picture as we were getting ready to leave for a wedding. He loves it because he says it could be an ad from the 1950's and jokingly calls me his happy little housewife in it- a term I pretty much couldn't hate more.

Every. single. time. we decide to host a group of people at our home, I fall into this pattern:

1. "Ben! We should have a party! It would be so much fun! We'll keep it really simple and laid back!"

2. "Let's invite everyone we've ever met! It will be a good way to get to know people better! It will be great!"

3. "I feel like I have a lot to do to get ready for the party, but, hey, no big deal."

4. "This is too much worry and stress and work for one little party."

5. "What was I thinking?"

6. "$%#*(&@^$*&!^#%%!!!"

And then, finally, after the party-

7. "Well, that was great! I am glad we did that!"

I look forward to reaching number seven come Saturday night.

That photo could be on the cover of a book! I got out my pen and paper ready to take notes. When I got to numbers 3-6 I could totally relate and then realized yet again how much we are alike. We appreciate all you are doing to prepare for the party and if you need us to pick anything up or help out before hand on Saturday just let me know.

Thanks so much for the sweet offer! No, there isn't much that actually HAS to be done before this weekend. I just like to make myself crazy. It's a gift.

Looking SO forward to hanging out together this weekend!
