{third grader}

Gracie and I attended Third Grade Open House at her new school this afternoon. The school is massive, but Gracie maneuvered her way around like it was nothing. Good thing she is not as directionally challenged as her mama! Her teacher seems great and she and her classroom made a wonderful first impression on us. Gracie reports that unlike her brother, she is not the least bit nervous about her first day on Monday. I asked if she was sad that she didn't recognize any of the names on her class list and she very matter-of-factly replied, "No, it's OK. I'll just make some new friends." That's my sweet, friendly girl!

I'm so proud of her and can't wait to see how she will shine in third grade!

she is so amazing to me, possibly because I am so opposite from her in that given the same situation I would have stewed and worried right up until the first day. She is alot like her dad in that way, seeing it as a challenge and an opportunity. It's something I strive for but it is hard to overcome and she is right she will make new friends. I mean who could not love her she is awesome!

Third grade was my favorite grade to teach. Gracie looks like the perfect third grader to me. She is so grown up looking! Enjoy this year. I just had lunch with a third grader I had in school 24 years ago. We talked for 3 hours. She is a speech pathologist. I felt so honored to be remembered by this special "little girl" from my class. Tell Gracie to have lunch with her third grade teacher in twenty years. Joanie

Gracie Good luck with 3rd grade! You are just a very pretty grown up girl. Growing up so fast!
What a great attitude! She and Joe and Will can all compare notes because they're all starting new schools this year. :-)

Thanks, everyone! I let Gracie read these comments and she got quite a proud look on her face! So far she is really enjoying third grade. She reports that her teacher is nice and that she has free time to read when her work is done.
