{bug}
Last week in Decatur there was a bug making it's way through town. Gracie and my cousin both came down with it early in the week. Gracie couldn't keep food down and had a headache. I won't even go into how unfair Gracie thought it was that part of her vacation was ruined by feeling crummy. Poor girl.
By Friday night, the bug had spread to include my dad, my brother-in-law, my niece, and my best friend's son. By Saturday morning we had to cut a stop out of our trip to visit two of my dearest friends in Indiana just so we wouldn't possibly share the germs. Bummer.
The bug was so hit and miss. Ben and Patti, who had been Gracie's primary caretakers during the worst of hers, escaped it. Bridget and Will, who had hosted Gracie for a sleepover the night before she got sick, were OK too. My dad got sick, but my mom only lost her appetite for a day. Isaac, Kari's son, and Addison both ran a high temperature. Isaac was vomiting, Addison was not. Bryan had the headache, but no vomiting. I got hit with a massive headache on Saturday and Sunday (almost a full week after Gracie first got sick), but my stomach has been fine.
It's been scary to not know who it will hit next and how it will hit them.
Despite my repeated prayers that Kate, Luke, and Drew would escape getting sick, poor Kate must have finally caught a little touch of it. She has been crying and spitting up (even more than usual) for the past 24 hours. She is only happy in my arms, and even then she is not too happy most of the time.
She just can't get comfortable. Thankfully, no temp and no signs of dehydration. Is there anything more pitiful than a sick baby, though? It just breaks my heart. I am crossing my fingers that she starts to feel better soon.
