{a new class}

This morning Drew and I attended an orientation for the three year old class at his preschool. He was feeling good when we were leaving the house.  He got a little unsure about things when we arrived and his teacher told me that all of the parents were meeting in another area while the students stayed with their new teachers, but thankfully there were no tears. I walked out and he barely even looked up from the dump truck he was playing with. What a difference a year makes! By the time we left, he had a hug for his new teacher and said he was excited to go back next week.

I am having a hard time feeling the same excitement. I am still adjusting to having Gracie and Luke gone all day, and the beginning of Drew's preschool program really snuck up on me. This year he will go two mornings a week instead of one, and as silly as it may sound, this difference feels just huge to me.

Despite my hesitation, I do feel that Drew will really enjoy his time at school. It will be good for him to spend time with peers instead of all-day, every-day with me. He needs to work on sharing and getting along with others and that skill is hard to learn when you spend your whole day with only your mama. The class is very small- four girls and two boys- and he already knows half of the students from his room last year. His teacher is very enthusiastic and told me she has some great things planned for this year.
