{12 on the 12th- June edition}
1. This post may take a ridiculously long time to compose as I am typing one-handed while holding baby Katie. I am doing many, many things with only one hand these days.
2. Katie had her three week check-up last Thursday and has gained a pound and a half since leaving the hospital. It is adorable to watch her filling out a little bit, gaining chubbier cheeks and starting to fill out her legs. She has just graduated from newborn size clothing to 0-3 month size clothing.
3. Gracie has been excitedly preparing for her eighth birthday party in a few weeks. She has written out a guest list, thought of a craft the girls can make, created a dance CD with Gram, and figured out how she wants her cupcakes to look. She is really looking forward to creating the invitations this week.
4. Luke and Drew are beginning to play together in a way I've been waiting for since Drew was born. Luke has begun to treat Drew as more of a playmate and less of a pesky baby brother. Sadly, Gracie does not enjoy many of their Superhero and dress-up games as much, so it is becoming harder to find an activity all three will enjoy.
5. We have been watching entirely too much TV at our house. Until a few weeks ago, the kids usually only watched one cartoon a day, sometimes two for Drew. Lately it is much more. I don't like this and am determined to change things this week. My kids seem to get along better and play more imaginatively when TV is not a big part of our routine.
6. I am re-reading statement #1 and laughing because it is now June 13. Typing. very. slowly. and. stopping. often. :)
7. Ben and I kicked our to-do list's butt yesterday! We took turns- one watching the kids and cuddling Kate while the other tackled something that needed done around the house. I made the weekly menu and grocery list and he ran to the store. I cleaned and put away all of the laundry and he mowed the lawn. I changed bedding and he helped the kids pick up their toys. I wrote thank you cards and he started some flower boxes he is building for the front of the house. It felt great to tackle some of the things on our list.
8. I very, very happily sent all of my maternity clothes back to Decatur with my parents to be used when/if needed by the next mama-to-be in the family. I am so happy to be done with maternity clothing! (Getting back into my regular clothing and tossing these transitional pieces of clothing I'm wearing right now is the next goal.)
9. I am either getting used to being exhausted or I am less exhausted than I was last week. I haven't decided which one it is.
10. I am doing a lot of laundry these days. Newborns are messy little creatures!
11. Yesterday I had spit up in my hair and down the front of my tank top, had yet to brush my hair or put on make-up for the day at noon, and was wearing baggy yoga pants soaking wet from giving Drew a bath when Gracie came up to me and said, "Mom, you look kind of tired today." It made me laugh- "tired" was a very nice way of describing how I looked at that moment!
12. For the moment the three oldest kids are playing nicely in the basement and Katie is sleeping in her room. I have been sitting at my laptop eating my lunch and surfing around the Internet for the past thirty minutes. What a wonderful treat!
Happy Monday!

You and Ben make a great team! Just enjoy your babies while you can. Everyone says this but the time goes so so fast and before you know it they are grown!
Take Care,
Sally
