I was surprised with a new camera for Christmas and I could not be happier. What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful gift from a wonderful guy.
I have been playing with it all morning (Housework? What housework?) and am just in love. The clarity of the pictures blows me away and the colors seem to just pop off the screen.
I just sat down to share some of the pictures on here and was greeted with the message that I have fulfilled the uploadable limit on my blog. The good news is that I can buy more space, the bad news is that it will take up to 24 hours to process. The timing is so funny because I am so anxious to see how the pictures will look on our blog.
The pictures below of Drew making Christmas crafts were taken on the new camera, so I at least can have a bit of a preview until I am once again granted permission to upload pictures.
I hope to be able to share pictures of our family Christmas sometime very soon. We had such a fun night together. Ben and I are always a little jealous of families that get to wake up at their own house on Christmas morning, as we've not done that since before we were married. We've come up with a good solution for us, though, and now really look forward to our own little Christmas a couple of days early.
We spread the present-opening throughout the evening to allow for plenty of time to play with the new toys. We had a yummy kid-friendly meal of meatloaf, carrots, and macaroni and cheese. We baked and decorated cookies. We created a couple of Christmas crafts. We sang to Christmas music. We read Christmas books. We watched the classic "Frosty the Snowman" cartoon. We let the kids stay up really, really late, fueled by Christmas cookie sugar. It was just a great evening together.
I have really barely heard a peep out of the kids this morning ever since I fed them breakfast about three hours ago. They are so happy to be home from school with nothing on the agenda except playing with their new Christmas presents.
These are the moments of their childhood that I hope they someday look back on and remember with a smile.
