I am sitting in a dark hotel room with three sleeping children typing on my blog at 12:45 in the morning.

Hmmmm.....maybe I had one too many Cokes at Ben's holiday party this evening?  :)

The party this evening was at the Union Station in Nashville.  It was a beautiful party in a beautiful room at a beautiful hotel with lots of food and drink and lots of people having a good time. A really really good time.  Some having the kind of good time that makes you feel bad for them just imagining what they will feel like tomorrow morning.

I am out of my comfort zone at parties like tonight. I am capable of small talk, but don't enjoy it. I would much rather talk to two people for the whole night than talk to fifty different people. Ben and I are opposites in that way.  Five hours at a party pumps him up, but it completely exhausts me.  Extrovert vs. introvert, I guess.

Consider my shyness in large group situations like this and factor in being pretty much the only sober person in the group and, well, ....... it makes for an interesting night. Some of the conversations I had with others at the end of the night I can pretty much guarantee will not be remembered by them come tomorrow morning.

Also, just an FYI for you, let me share with you what is really fun- when drunk people you barely know touch your pregnant belly. It is not the least bit uncomfortable.  (My sarcasm is coming through here, isn't it??)

Overall, though, it was a really nice evening.  The food was wonderful and I enjoyed getting to know some of Ben's colleagues a little better. It was nice to see the people he spends so much of his time with. I wish I had pictures to share from this evening, but I opted to attend the party sans camera. Ben looked so very handsome in his tie and sportscoat, though, that I wish I had snapped at least one picture of us together before we left.

Most importantly, a HUGE thank you to Meaghan for hanging out with the kids in the hotel room for the evening. I can't wait to hear about their evening when the kids wake up in the morning!
