Day two of our trip brought smiles and hugs and pizza and laughter and playtime with wonderful people. After an easy two hour drive, we arrived in Zionsville in time to meet Allie and Hollis for lunch at Monicals. So good to see those two gals! Luke and Hollis jumped right back into playing and giggling, Drew jumped right back into Allie's arms, and Allie and I jumped right back into good conversation.....like no time had passed. Gosh, I miss the LePages! Spending time with them just makes us happy.
Unfortunately, we only had a couple of hours with them before one more Zionsville stop and a drive to Decatur. We were invited to the Sorg's home for a little more playtime. Taylor Sorg and Gracie have been best buddies since preschool and have missed each other like crazy since the move. Watching those two together was precious. They hugged and giggled and hugged some more. Melody Sorg was a perfect host and had water toys set up outside and yummy treats inside. We had a great time catching up on the last four months of our lives and marveling how Will and Luke would be starting kindergarten in a month. It was another wonderful visit and I had a hard time getting Gracie into the car to leave.
The kids were a little bummed as we left Zionsville and it was pretty quiet in the car. After a little talk about how much we miss our friends and a stop for dinner, they were able to be perked up with the thought that we were just an hour from Decatur. As we neared my parent's house, Gracie was chattering a mile a minute, just so very excited!
We pulled up to the house and honked and my parents came out the door. Gracie and Luke shot out of the van like cannon balls into the arms of their grandparents. What a scene! I still smile thinking about it. :)
Even though it was bedtime when we arrived, there was no way the kids were going to go to sleep for a while. We stayed up and visited for quite a while before anyone could wind down.
Day two of our trip was an even better success. Day three today calls for going to the zoo with my parents and niece and having a picnic lunch at the park.
Life is just good and my heart is happy. :)
