{a day at the orchard}

As far as fall days and family time go, yesterday pretty much tops the charts. The day started with the kick off of fall soccer for the boys. I absolutely love fall soccer. I really could not be more excited about the start of the soccer season for my guys. Little blonds in soccer shorts and socks…. I swoon. :)

After the games ended, we hopped into the car to head to Grafton, Illinois where we met up with the grandparents, cousins, and some aunts and uncles for an afternoon at the orchard.

(These two never have any fun together.)

After apple picking, we went to Pere Marquette State Park for playtime and a picnic dinner. We found picnic tables right near a playground and set out a spread of food to enjoy in the beautiful weather. We celebrated Drew's upcoming sixth birthday with some of his favorite foods and lemon cupcakes. We were happy to get to spend some time with Paul on his birthday weekend as well. After the year that he has had, his is a birthday VERY worth celebrating! It was such a perfect way to spend time with people we love.

I can never resist taking pictures like this. I love to see my kids in the hands of their extended family.

The drive home at the end of the day was gorgeous. Pictures could not do the pink sunset over the river justice.

What a day. Thanks to all who spent time with us. We love you.

Without context, it looks like Will and Mark are doing a weird apple celebration dance

Thank you for inviting us and I am so happy that you shared pictures to go along with all of the stories I heard for the rest of the weekend! The girls had a great time!
