Labor Day 2014
It's been a great four day weekend for us. Ben took Friday off and the kids were off of school for Professional Development for the teachers, so our weekend has been a long one in the very best way. Friday morning was a trip to the zoo, Katie's first dance class of the year (ballet and tap now that she is three! How Cute!), and lunch at P.F. Changs. Gracie and I then took a looooong afternoon trip to the craft store to buy some materials I've been running low on and somehow managed to spend two hours there. Still not sure how we did that. :) I'm pretty thankful to share a love of crafts with her and can only hope we always have things to enjoy together.
Saturday brought a relaxed visit from Patti, Paul, and Bryan. We spent the day hanging out at our house before Ben, Bryan, and I enjoyed dinner at McConnell's and then headed to the Cub Cardinal game that evening. We were pretty appreciative to Patti for the tickets and to Patti and Paul for wanting to watch the kids for us. The kids enjoyed their Movie Night with Nini and Papa very much.
Sunday brought the Japanese Festival at the Botanical Gardens and lunch at Fuzzy's Tacos. There were many great exhibits open, but the kids (and Ben) enjoyed the sumo wrestlers the most by far. After our guests headed back to Decatur, we decided to enjoy one last summer night at the pool.
Today has been pretty relaxed as well. Ben and Gracie did lots of cooking, I got some things done around the house, the boys played together for hours (makes a mama happy!), and Katie painted and Play-dohed to her heart's content. The kids and I put together some simple invitations for a neighborhood ice cream sundae social we are hosting next weekend and walked around to deliver them. The weekend wrapped up with time in the driveway and having some good friends over for dinner.
I hate to see a good weekend come to an end, but I am also filled with nervous excitement for tomorrow- Katie's first real day of preschool and my first day at my new job. I'll keep you posted…..

| This is what happens when you take a five year old and nine year old boy to the pool right after seeing sumo wrestlers. :) |
