{on the eve of six}

My Andrew Henry has a birthday tomorrow. To celebrate, I wanted to share some favorite pictures and some of the things I love so much about him right now, on the eve of six.

Drew is full. of. life.  We can always count on him to add a little extra spice to any ordinary day.

He makes me laugh on an hourly basis and keeps life so very interesting.

He is headstrong and opinionated and strong willed. While these character traits can be a little challenging to parent sometimes, they also make me think that he will go far in life.

He can be the sweetest little guy around. He still likes to hold my hand, sit on my lap when I read to him at bedtime, and tell me how much he loves me. He is learning to compliment and when those gorgeous blue eyes look up at me and he says some sweet thing or another, I melt.

He is quick to laugh, tease, or tickle and he loves to wrestle. He is kind of like a little puppy- always up for affection and physical play.

He is so, so smart.

He is a contradicting mixture of overly confident 90% of the time and painfully, painfully afraid of new things the other 10%, making us always a little unsure what to expect from him in a new situation.

He is funny. Sometimes genuinely funny for such a young kid. He can make us laugh when we don't even want to laugh. He really enjoys sarcasm.

He makes friends easily.

He loves to read and be read to. His current favorite series is the Magic Tree House.

He looks up to his big brother with a little bit of hero worship, but also can argue with him so much I think I will lose my mind.

He is more into money (earning money, spending money, playing Monopoly, asking how much something costs, etc.) than any other kid I know. He is not stingy; he will give you the dollar in his pocket without blinking an eye. He just loves commerce. (Focused, strong-willed personality, outgoing, excellent with numbers, loves money….. we predict that we have a future business owner on our hands.)

He loves sweets. He does not have a sweet tooth, he has a sweet mouth.

His smile and his left-cheek-only dimple are two of my very favorite things on this planet.

We are crazy about him.

I don't know that I've ever seen Drew without a smile (except maybe in that picture from school ;). Happy birthday to Drew from the Reithel Family!

I really can not believe how much he has grown this summer. He looks like such a big kid when even compared to his preschool graduation pictures. He is so sweet and he cracks me up. Happy Birthday Bert Love Ernie
