So I realize there is a very similar thread to many of my posts lately….
This is turning out to be a lovely, lovely short stretch of days for me. I was drained last week, but after this weekend, I feel recharged and content. Yesterday was spent in the backyard with Ben working on a firepit area, doing a little crafting, enjoying wonderful company at my book club, and having a date night at home with Ben. Today everyone is off to work and school except for two of us. After Kate's initial disappointment to hear that there is no preschool or dance class on her agenda today, she seems to have rallied quite nicely. Pumpkin crafts are a good thing in a three year old's world.
Although I can think of a couple of errands it would be helpful to run this morning, we may just enjoy a domestic kind of day. I've had the washer going all morning and am almost caught up with laundry. There is bread baking in the oven. Katie and I took a walk around the block. I made a huge to-do list of all of the little "homey" kinds of things I would just love to accomplish this week while Ben is away in Texas. I paid some bills, took all of the summer clothes out of my closet, and made my weekly grocery list. I mopped the kitchen and cleaned out the fridge. Sometimes there is something so very satisfying in making a house clean and cozy.
It makes me happy to have days like this in my favorite place. I enjoy simple moments very much. I find myself seeking out calm wherever I can lately. I even just switched the blog back to the original format because there was just too much going on with the trial of the new format. There are so many noisy, busy moments in life when you have a big family- calm and quiet is appreciated whenever and wherever I can get it!
