Memorial Day Backyard Camp Out

For many reasons, our Memorial Day weekend this year does not involve travel and time with out of state friends. I can count on one hand the number of Memorial Day weekends since college that we have not had big plans. I fully expected to feel a bit bored this weekend by our holiday weekend with nothing formally scheduled, but it has been great so far.

After a full day of garage sale hunting, a ball game for Drew, playtime at the park followed by ice cream cones, more sprinkler time in our yard, and some craft time for me while everyone else played in the backyard, Ben surprised the kids by asking them if they wanted to camp out in the back yard for the night. They were so very excited!

Drew and Luke find photo bombing completely hysterical, though they don't truly get it because they ask, "Mom, can you please take a picture so we can photo bomb it??" This one had us all laughing.

The weather cooperated despite a few sprinkles and we were able to roast hot dogs and marshmallows outside before heading into the tent to listen to Ben tell them a story. Katie was asleep pretty quickly, so I scooped her up and brought her inside with me for the night. Everyone else stayed outside all night and said they loved it.
