I am fighting an awful headache this afternoon- the kind of headache where every loud noise makes you cringe, moving your eyes actually hurts, and it is hard to think about anything else but the pain.
By hour three of this headache, all three kids were finally occupied together in the dining room playing restaurant. I saw my opportunity and snuck off to the couch for a moment of rest. I stretched out on the couch, put my head on a pillow, and shut my eyes.
Almost instantly, I was surrounded.
Luke started loudly telling me some elaborate story about Batman, Green Lantern, and the Flash- complete with questions to make sure I was paying attention. Drew kept trying to crawl up my legs to play horsey. Gracie decided she wanted to be my hairdresser and proceeded to not-so-gently run her fingers through my hair, pulling out pieces left and right and asking me over and over again, "Does this feel good?"
The scene was so completely the opposite of what I needed at that moment that I just had to laugh.
Turns out that a good laugh and a full-caffeine soda (a treat these days) were just enough to do the trick. Headache gone.
