Things I want to remember about my Luke at age six-

  • He is crazy smart.  The things that come out of his mouth sometimes- the comments that come out of nowhere and are so deep I just have to shake my head- the questions that send me to google- the clever little jokes that are honestly, genuinely funny........... in the words of his kindergarten teacher, Luke is "a real thinker." I love it about him.
  • He is full of energy. Full. Sometimes he just needs to run or wrestle to get some of it worked out.
  • He loves to draw. He really can sit for over an hour all by himself at the dining room table drawing pictures.
  • He loves his family fiercely, especially the men.  He adores Ben and his grandpas and he is such a good brother to Drew.
  • He is a little gentleman.  The two of us went out last week for some special time together and he insisted on opening each and every door for me, including my car door.
  • He is a great cuddler. Every morning when he wakes up, he comes to find me for a little time on my lap. We don't talk, but just sit together. It's pure bliss.
  • Superheroes are his current obsession. He has also really developed an interest in Legos lately.
  • He loves to play video games with Ben. The thirty minutes that he gets to play on the weekends are probably his favorite thirty minutes of the week.
  • He really impressed us on the soccer field this fall. It was cool to see his confidence building.
  • Of the three kids, Luke is the most even-tempered. In general, he doesn't get too upset about things.  Occasionally, though, out of nowhere, he will get really, really, really mad about something Gracie has said or done.  Nothing seems to make him as angry as she can.  Ahh, siblings. :)
  • His favorite foods are cheeseburgers, grapes, blueberries, oatmeal, bagels with cream cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and snickerdoodle cookies.
  • His favorite TV shows are Zaboomafoo, Sid the Science Kid, or Backyardigans.
  • His favorite books are Superhero books, Magic Tree House books, and books about whatever holiday is closest.
  • He loves to listen to Raffi and sings along with great enthusiasm.
I love the kid to pieces and am so proud of him.

He's grown up so much in the last year - it's fun to watch all his talents emerge and his confidence grow.
I love his honesty and his curiousity about things. You can't just give him a half answer to his question - he will keep asking until he understands. No wonder you need to reseach on the Internet!! I love that he will listen to books until you have no voice left - and still not be ready to stop reading. We can't wait to see you all - I have a new stack of books waiting.

Love,

Patti
