Easter 2010

Ben and I were a little unsure about how it would feel to celebrate Easter just the five of us. It was the first Easter we've spent away from our parents in our thirty-two year lives. I guess we've been a bit spoiled to always be near enough to our family to have all sorts of Easter fun with them each year. Dying eggs, an egg hunt, a huge meal, and usually some sort of outdoor spring activity like kite flying with both sides of our families had become the Easter tradition, some years with everyone driving to St. Louis or Zionsville so we could host. It is one of my favorite days of the year.

And while this Easter looked a bit different as it was just the five of us celebrating together, it was just as nice as always. Easter baskets waiting in the family room for the kids when they woke up, happy pancakes for breakfast, a laid-back morning of playtime, a huge late lunch of ham, corn casserole, party potatoes, and corn on the cob, some time in the backyard, an egg hunt, and a long walk to get ice cream before bedtime. (Gracie said, "We reaallly get to eat ice cream for dinner??? No way!!) It was a wonderful day.
