a rough day for Luke
Despite all of the fun we had on our Father's Day camping trip to Turkey Run this weekend (and it was a great time!), the memory that will stick with me from this weekend was our afternoon in the ER.
Long story short, Luke fell onto some hot coals in the firepit and we had to rush him to the ER. I felt so badly for him; he was in such pain and was so scared. Ben, my dad, and I tried our hardest to distract him for the entire 25 minute drive from the campsite to the hospital, but he was so upset. Once he was given some strong painkillers, he was able to relax a bit.
There were some plastic items in the firepit that got burned onto Luke's skin, making it impossible to see the extent of the injury. In the ER, his hand was gently cleaned, coated with ointment, and wrapped up. We were told to have him soak in the tub for a while once we got home to see if the plastic could be loosened. After less than twelve hours, he has already lost a big piece of the plastic. Sadly, the plastic fell off to reveal a huge ugly blister on his palm. I cringe to think how much it must have hurt.
Ben and I are really looking forward to taking him in tomorrow to visit our doctor. We were less than impressed with the tiny ER we visited in Crawfordsville, IN. We feel just awful about him being hurt and wish we could take his place. My poor litle guy.
