So we'll continue to wait patiently for labor to arrive. I'm not feeling too anxious about it anymore. I keep reminding myself that he is not even late yet- his due date is Wednesday- it only feels like he is because my doctor didn't predict I would make it to my due date. Do you remember the feeling in college when the professor would start class by saying, "I think we should get out early this evening." and how you would watch the clock anticipating the end of class? And the intense frustration you would feel if you did not end up getting out of class early? You wouldn't have minded staying the entire time had the professor not promised an early dismissal, you would have expected it. But since you were looking forward to a shortened class, the class seemed much, much longer than usual? That's a little how I feel.
Despite my initial disappointment after last Thursday's false alarm, I have no complaints at all about the past few days. I would REALLY like to meet my little Henry/Drew/Cal/Tyler as soon as possible, but we've had just the best weekend. It was so nice to have my parents around for a few days, and we thoroughly enjoyed the cooler weather, very relaxed pace, and family time.
I think my parents had a good time too. My dad said last night that he now knew his answer to the question of the week asking everyone to describe their perfect Saturday- he said he had just had his. It made me feel so much better about them making the trip over, even though it wasn't to meet their newest grandbaby as planned. They were a tremendous help with the kids, my mom baked us delicious food, and- most importantly- they were such great company. Thanks again, Mom and Dad.
Ben took Friday off to hang out with us and we were able to have a three day weekend. It felt a little like a vacation in that we had nowhere to be and nothing that really had to be done. We hung out at the house playing with Gracie and Luke, went out for Thai food, took lots of walks, played Rummikub, watched the Zionsville Fall Parade, sat around the firepit, took some naps, read some books....the list goes on. I know that Gracie and Luke loved all the special time with Gram and Grandpa too, and LOVED showing off their schools to their grandparents. All in all, a wonderful time.
My parents left this morning (with the hopes of returning very, very soon!) and we've spent the day hanging out together- going to church, having a big lunch, visiting with Kenny and Kelly, and exploring the Zionsville Fall Festival. Patti will arrive tomorrow night to hang until the baby is here; it brings us so much comfort to have the grandparents around right now. We will breathe easier knowing that when the baby decides he is ready, we will not have to worry about Gracie and Luke as we leave for the hospital.
A few pictures from our weekend-

I really appreciate all of the calls, visits, and emails. I promise to spread the word as soon as he arrives.
