a family of five
A very typical Saturday for us includes morning errands and a relaxed lunch out. Although we still aren't ready to have Drew around too many people yet, we decided yesterday we felt comfortable running to the store and for a quick bite to eat. Between our lack of a schedule and Luke's hard time with things lately, I'll admit I was a little apprehensive, but I'm happy to say that things couldn't have gone more smoothly.

The highlight of the morning: we got to the restaurant and the hostess asked, "Just the five of you?" It stopped me in my tracks. It was the first time I had heard that.
Other than our little outing yesterday and a quick trip to Target this afternoon, we've spent the rest of the weekend relaxing at home. I can't really say we're getting much done, but we're all enjoying ourselves.
Drew continues to hypnotize me with his cute little face; hours can pass before I realize that I've been sitting in the same spot holding him for so long. He's just that sweet and cuddly. I love newborns.

Gracie has been practicing riding her bike without the training wheels all weekend and is doing really well. She has been really enjoying every fall craft activity I can think of. She continues to be such a tremendous help with Drew. If I have to leave the room for any reason, she sits right next to his seat and says, "Oh baby, big sissy is going to babysit you for a minute." She still mimics me often with her baby dolls and it is so darn cute. I'm so proud of my big girl.

Luke has discovered The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back and has requested it be read to him dozens of times. He is obsessed with spelling right now too. One of his favorite activities is to spell words with his magnetic letters or alphabet blocks. He is doing much better with Drew and is slowly returning to his normal cheerful, quirky self. :)
Ben and I are still very happy and very tired. We are both bummed we had to miss a fun wedding in St. Louis this weekend, but it's just too soon for travel.
