sweet Addi
Erin and Chad's oldest, Addi, is here in St. Louis this week for open heart surgery. She checked into Barnes early yesterday morning and spent the entire day in the OR. Her recovery currently looks to be 7-10 days in the hospital followed by a couple of months of rest at home. I feel just awful for her.
We felt horrible when we realized that the date of her surgery was the same day as the last day of our already planned/paid for vacation. Since the date got changed a couple of times, we opted not to try to reschedule our vacation since even if we did, it could have turned out not to matter. Consequently, we were all distracted from Colorado on Monday as we worried about Addison. The surgeon had a great app that allowed frequent updates from the OR on the progress of the ten hour surgery, so we were able to feel like we knew what was going on back in St. Louis even if we weren't here. Technology can be a great thing.
We got home to a house full of guests who were using our home as a base while they are here for the week. My parents, Erin and Chad's other two daughters, and Chad's mom are staying with us while Addison is in the hospital. It's nice to have family here this week, but sure wish it was for a more fun reason.
Addison is still sedated from yesterday's surgery and it will be a rough week for her. They had to place a pacemaker they were not anticipating needing, so unfortunately she may have to have another surgery on Friday. Poor, poor thing.
If you would, send all the thoughts and prayers Addi's way. Please also pray for peace and strength for Erin and Chad and all three grandparents as they help Addison through this incredibly hard time.
