Happy Us Day.

Yesterday was our sixteen year wedding anniversary. We usually try our hardest to get away for an overnight for our anniversary, but this year getting away is just a lot of trouble. Ben's travel schedule for the month of October already has him gone more than he is home, AND we already have a couple of non-negotiable weekend plans, AND the kids have soccer and activities coming out of their ears right now...... staying put and celebrating with a nice evening together was the plan that makes the most sense to celebrate sixteen.

As is the tradition, we headed to the park to snap some family pictures for our anniversary. The kids were cooperative and had me laughing. I wish I could have had pictures of what was going on between shots. At one point as Gracie was taking this picture, Drew and Luke were pretending to moon us over her shoulder. :)

The rest of the shots turned out pretty well considering how thrown together the shoot was, squeezed after a 4:00 doctor's appointment for me and 7:00 dinner plans. It's amazing how well children cooperate for pictures when bribed with ice cream sundaes.

We aren't sure why exactly, but we half the shots ended up blurry. I am not a professional. Clearly.

Giggling at her dad. Love this big girl.

My favorite shot of the night.

Life with these guys.

After pictures, we headed home to get the kids settled in. Gracie and Luke wanted to babysit while we headed down the street to our favorite restaurant. We had a delicious, delicious, d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s meal at The Block and enjoyed long, leisurely conversation. I can not stress how good the meal was- best meal I've had in a long time! We started with drinks at the bar, then had a meatball and wild mushroom appetizer over cheddar grits. For dinner I had my favorite, pork and dumplings. Even though we were so full that over half my meal was boxed up to take home, we ended the night with dessert- apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream. I left there Thanksgiving day full. The night ended with a long walk with Bear and then renting a movie on the couch. (Pitch Perfect 2 is awful, in case you were wondering.)

I love this guy and am so thankful to have him as my partner. He gets me. I get him. I love sharing my life with someone I genuinely like. :) He makes me laugh and makes life more fun. He knows how to calm my worries, or at least listen while I talk through them. He's a great dad to our four. He works hard to provide a comfortable life for us. He is up for any idea I have and loves to be adventurous.

He's a keeper, this one.

I imagine Drew is actually praying for his sundae in his solo picture.

Great pics! I love the idea of trading smiles for sundaes. Might have to steal that idea.
