this scene.
Tonight after dinner we took a much needed trip to the library. The kids spent a happy twenty minutes finding their own books and then, as usual, we made a stop in the adult section so I could choose a couple of my own. Now while this shouldn't seem like such a big deal (....because holy moly have we been working towards it for YEARS!), it made me really happy to witness this scene:
With barely a word from me, each went to the table, sat down quietly, pulled out a book, and read without a sound. I HAD FIFTEEN MINUTES TO BROWSE THE LIBRARY WITHOUT ONE TIME BEING INTERRUPTED. It was glorious, I tell you. Simply glorious.
I miss having babies in the family, sometimes so much that it hurts. Every now and then, though, I catch these peeks at what life is like without little little ones in the family and I can see the perks. :)
