There was A LOT of time for art projects over Winter Break. My kids are so happy when I pull out art supplies and just let them go- and I am so happy to watch them do it. When life gets busy during the school week, there is usually not enough time in the evening schedule for art.

Yesterday when the kids got home from their first day back at school, though, and despite homework and music practice that needed to happen, we all ended up at the island painting together. The music was on and the kids were singing along and talking about their days.

This scene is my happiness-

The kids painted clipboards to hold their school papers and weekly chore charts. I will have to add a picture of the finished products later today. I was so amused by the attention they each put into their clipboards. Katie spend ninety minutes on hers! She carefully painted each side and then glued sequins all over the back. After seeing Gracie paint polka dots onto her clipboard, Katie decided her clipboard needed dots too. She worked from 4:00 until dinner time on this little clipboard with one small cartoon break in the middle for the paint to dry.

What a great idea! I love that Luke is doing his creating shirtless - it makes it so much easier to clean up....

I assume that Luke has pants on. I'm not sure if that's a safe assumption though.

He did have pants on..... but art-ing in this underwear would have been completely in character for him. You know him well.
