my sweet Drew
I have become much more of a sap since becoming a mother. My children can easily make me tear up just by saying something precious. It's kind of silly, really, but there isn't anything I can do about it. I have tried.
So you can imagine that I might have been blinking back a tear after this adorable interaction with Drew in the car this morning-
Drew: You were a teacher before you were our mom, right?
Me: Yep, third grade.
Drew: Well, maybe you could get a job teaching kindergarten next year so you could be my teacher.
Me: (smiling ear to ear) I would love that, bud, but I don't think the school would let that happen. It's probably against the rules for your mom to be your teacher.
Drew: Could you maybe be a kindergarten teacher in the classroom next to mine so I could still see you whenever I want? Like, if I just wanted to tell you something or give you a kiss, I could just walk next door and do it.
Me: (huge lump in my throat, but still grinning) That would be so great, wouldn't it?
Drew: You'd be a really good kindergarten teacher, I think. You are really nice to people and you read books all the time. (a pause) Katie could just go to preschool all the days that we are at kindergarten together, so you wouldn't have to worry about her. She'll like preschool, so it's okay.
I could not love that kid anymore. I really couldn't.

He has a pretty big fan club here in Decatur, too. Thanks for sharing.
