{Halloween costumes 2012}

There was a flurry of activity around here as we assembled the 2012 Halloween costumes this morning.   The kids were thrilled to be invited to a Halloween birthday party (Happy 5th, Millie!) today and it gave Ben and me just the incentive we needed to finish the costumes.

After much debate, Drew decided that he wanted to be a puppy dog named Wuffus. He was insistent that he look as much like his favorite stuffed animal as he could, but luckily for me that wasn't too difficult. An Old Navy fleece outfit, lots of tan flannel, and a sewing machine were all I needed to make a costume that he was very happy with.

Gracie chose to be a cat this year. A couple of weeks ago she saw a blank cat mask in the Halloween aisle and thought it would be fun to decorate it for herself. She worked very hard to paint it black, add glittery details, and use felt to make colorful ears. Her tutu and tail were easy to find at a craft store, so those in combination with black leggings and a black shirt turned into a pretty neat 4th-grade friendly costume.

Luke is a vampire this year. He and Ben went to a HUGE Halloween store in the area yesterday to find the cape and vampire fangs. I told him he was too cute to be scary, but he didn't believe me and thought he made a pretty great vampire. Bridget, who knew the pants you bought him for your wedding would also make a great vampire pants?

Katie will be our little Katie Cat this Wednesday, but her costume isn't quite finished yet. The birthday party this morning fell right during her nap time, so she wasn't able to join in the fun.

I am really looking forward to Halloween on Wednesday. There is a party and costume parade at both the preschool and the elementary school that day.  We are so excited to trick or treat in our new neighborhood that evening. It should be so much fun! Lots more pictures to come, I am sure.

They all looked adorable at the party! Peyton was tugging on Drew's puppy ears and he looked back at her and said "woof" :)

The kids looked great! Millie said that the best part of her party was when Grace, and Luke and Drew walked in. Somehow she had forgotten they were coming even though we've talked about her party endlessly while getting ready for it :). We missed you and Katie, but were so happy the rest of the family was able to join us!

Thanks! I wish I could have seen your little cuties in costume too! They had a wonderful time at the party and I loved the pumpkins they brought home! Hope Millie had a wonderful birthday!
