Sorry in advance if this Drew story teeters on the edge of over-sharing, but it certainly made me laugh and I thought it might make some of you smile too. If potty humor is not your thing, feel free to skip the rest of this post.
This morning Drew went with me to my OB appointment. (It is probably worth noting that I was fully clothed for the entire check-up, short of lifting my shirt to expose my stomach.) He has never been with me before and was quite interested in everything- the elevator, the nurses, the blood pressure cuff, the scale, and the paper sheet covering the exam chair. He was uncharacteristically still for the entire hour we were there and was full of many questions.
He was most fascinated with the urine sample I was asked to give. Like always, the nurse led me into the restroom and handed me a plastic cup with my name on it. She left the room and Drew began talking a mile a minute- until he noticed me peeing into a cup. He actually stopped mid-sentence and watched me in complete silence. Once finished, I set the cup on the designated tray in front of the toilet and the look on his face as he tried to figure out what he was looking at was absolutely priceless.
He looked at the cup and then at me and then at the cup again and asked, "What is that?" with total confusion. I bit my tongue to keep from laughing and said in the most matter-of-fact way I could manage, "It is potty, Drew. The doctor needs it." He gave me the most disgusted look I have ever seen on a two year old and said, "I don't like to drink potty!"
I laughed so hard that the nurse on the other side of the door heard me. I am, seriously, still laughing as I type. I have no idea if this is even funny to anyone else, or if maybe you just had to have been there.... but watching his face change from shock to confusion to disgust was just absolutely hysterical.
And on a non-potty related note- little Miss Katie is measuring right on track and appears to be in perfect health. As much as I hate the hassle and the long waits of an OB visit, the second I hear her little heartbeat, there is nowhere else I'd rather be. Hard to believe it's only about six more weeks until she is in my arms.
Happy weekend! :)
