a night with The Avett Brothers

Last night we achieved concert perfection. Great band, great song choices, great company, great venue, great dinner, great weather...... seeing The Avett Brothers at The Fox will be a hard concert to top.

When we learned a few months ago that Avett Brothers would be playing in St. Louis a few days after my birthday, there was absolutely zero doubt that we would be going. But when Meaghan texted me and asked if we wanted to go with her and Will, the idea of the night got even better. When she said she was going to try to pull some strings at The Fox for good seats since she used to work there, I was appreciative, but it wasn't until I saw the tickets that I realized just how amazing the seats were.  We were center stage in row two behind the pit. I was blown away. Seeing a concert from that close was a new experience.

We met for Thai food and drinks before the concert and then went for another drink near The Fox before the concert started. Once we entered The Fox, I was a little giddy. We've seen them nine times now, but it never gets old. (And just to be clear, I'm not like this for any other band. I'm not even a person who gets very star struck about celebrities in general. I don't know what it is about The Avett Brothers. Ben says I have officially become a groupie. I say he screamed more than I did during the concert, so he doesn't have much room to talk.)

The concert was just amazing. They sang so many great songs I already knew and a couple of new songs I heard for the first time. They interacted with the audience and talked more than usual between songs. They were very appreciative to the St. Louis fans and said playing in St. Louis has a unique feel. (I've not heard him say this in other cities.)  The final song of the night was my favorite song.  Concert perfection.

We went back to Meaghan and Will's hotel for drinks afterwards,  relived our favorite parts of the night, and discussed seeing them together again in Nashville in November.
