Nashville

Catching up with the last two days of the trip...

When we woke up on Thursday morning after sleeping in, we all had a bit of a post Disney/ Harry Potter hangover. The day of the trip that the kids had been most excited about was done, and the LONG ride home was looming over me. At that point, we had been gone a week and had stayed in four different hotels in that week. The original plan had been to spend Thursday in Jacksonville having one last full day of vacation as a beach day, but starting the trip home started to sound a little tempting.

Thursday turned into a full day in the car. Not fun, but a necessity. We thought we would drive as far as we could until we just had to get out of the car and that would be our Thursday night stop. Traffic made that stop about an hour north of Atlanta.

Friday morning we got up and hit the road again. We were in Nashville by 10:30 and ready to have  a little fun in one of our favorite cities. We took the kids to see the Parthenon in Centennial Park, we ate barbecue on 12South, we loaded up on books at McKays, and we had popsicles at Las Paletas. Although we could have stayed in Nashville much longer, we aimed to leave before rush hour traffic. We were back in St. Louis and pulling into our driveway by 8:30 that night, so very happy to be home.

Saturday was much needed. Laundry, groceries, unpacking, mowing...... there's a lot to do to return to life after a road trip. The kids kind of scattered to their own spaces a bit, most especially Gracie. Our girl loves spending time in her room!

It was a wonderful trip full of wonderful memories, but home is pretty wonderful too.
