Memorial Day Weekend

We didn't have big plans for Memorial Day weekend in a good way. Ben took Friday off and last Thursday was the last day of school for the kids, so we've been enjoying a long, easy weekend together.  Luke hosted a sleepover with two friends after the fifth grade celebration party Thursday night. Gracie hosted a sleepover with two friends the next night. Luke went to a birthday party sleepover the next night. We had a revolving door this weekend and two excited tweens.

Ben and I worked around the house. Story of our lives right now. :) I also worked on many orders for my shop and Ben filled out the application for his MBA program. We also managed to squeeze in a date and lots of play time with the kids, so it wasn't all work for us.

How wonderful it is to have a teenager to babysit. Ben and I enjoyed a great dinner out on Sunday night while the kids have a movie night at home together. We came home and all four kids were asleep in their beds.

Cuties.
Gracie texted me this picture.

Gracie and I had a fun mom/daughter outing together. She is so much fun to shop with.
a"school's out for the summer!!" ice cream party Thursday after school

These two were my helpers on an early morning grocery run. Does the fruit even out the three boxes of donuts? :)
Sleepovers call for donuts sometimes.

Enjoying a birthday gift from Patti, Bryan, and Bridget.

Drew has discovered texting. We've since had to shut it down since the members of his immediate family received about 1,000 texts in a three hour window. :) It was pretty cute, though. Above is a text between Gracie and Drew (that also showed up on my phone so I could monitor things). The blue is Drew. The fact that he typed out "i love you" to Gracie just about killed me. He is a seven year old boy; those are not words that come out of his mouth often to his sister.

Katie got a summer bob haircut. The sister hair salon opened on the couch so Gracie could play around with the new length.

Katie went with me on a trip to my favorite antique store as I was on the lookout for one specific thing needed for a project Ben and I are working on in the kitchen. The man who works the counter is always very nice to us and makes small talk each time we are there. When he found out that Katie just had a birthday, he insisted that she pick out a piece of jewelry from one of the display cases. She, of course, went for the fanciest thing she could find.

Life was good this four day weekend.
