{first morning of summer}

I stepped out of my bedroom early this morning to get a cup of coffee and returned a moment later to this happy scene-

The kids had all climbed onto our bed (Katie was already there) to say good morning to Ben.

Summer has begun! I couldn't be happier that our schedule gets to slow w.a.a.a.a.a.y.  down for the next two months. No strict bedtime. No homework. No lunches to pack. More time to play. No runs to a school at eight, nine, noon, and three. Our schedule. More time for crafts. More time for learning at home.

I really LOVE summer vacation.

How wonderful to have nowhere to be today! I write this at 10:30 in the morning as the kids, still in their pajamas, draw at the table next to me. Baby Lucy is spending the day with us and then we have some preparations to do this evening to gear up for a family camping trip this weekend in Illinois.

Life is good in the summer time.
