conversations with Drew can sometimes go something like this:

Drew: Mom, see how long I can hold my breath. Go!

Me: one......two......three....

Drew: OK! How long was that?

Me: Three seconds.

Drew: WOW! That is even less than four! Is that a new record?

Me: Nope. You have held your breath for much longer than that before.

Drew: Hey, is spinach the most healthy thing to eat ever?

Me: It is pretty healthy, for sure.

Drew: I like spinach. Did you know that? But only in Popeye noodles. (spinach tortellini) You can't play Skylanders without the Portal of Power. ...... I am going to take a bath with Katie. Would we ever run out of water in our house? (not leaving time for me to give an answer) Does Katie want a bath bath bath bath? Does Katie want a baaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaath? Look at me, Mom. (does a little kick and jump move) I am Black Panther. .......... Would you rather be a lion or a monkey? I would rather be a monkey. Or a dugong. .............When I am a man I am going to be a marine biologist.

Me: That sounds neat. What makes you want to be a marine biologist?

Drew: I just want to, that's all. Wait! Do octopuses sting? (does not wait for any answer) What about sting rays? I don't want to be a marine biologist. I want to be an astronaut. Wait! What about aliens? I don't want to be an astronaut. I am going to be a librarian. Or a doctor.        I am going to be a doctor when I grow up. Katie, I am going to be a doctor when I grow up. I can fix your owies. I can look in ears with that ear thing and know if someone has an ear infection. ......... Katie, are you going to eat your banana bread? Brother can eat that if you don't want it. Mine is all gone. (long pause) My puzzle book has a cover with eight sides. That is a hexagon, right?

Me: Hexagons have six sides. If a shape has eight sides it is...

Drew: (interrupting) Eight sides means a diamond. No, wait! It is an octagon. Like octopus. Like Octoman. Is that it?

Me: I think he is called Aquaman.

Drew: Water man? Aquaman! (singing it) Aquaman! (short pause) Could I have some milk please?

and so on throughout that day.  His energy is limitless and his mind is fascinating.

I love my little ball of energy.

The kids would definitely supply enough material for a book, wouldn't they? :)
