{12 on the 12th- November edition}
1. It seems like I just wrote this list for October.
2. The time change has been messing with our sleep schedules this week. In theory, one little hour shouldn't make that much of a difference, but somehow it always does for us. Our days have been starting really, really early. Is it the same at your house? It is so nice to send the kids off to school in daylight though, so no complaints here!
3. Hallelujah! I have on my pre-Katie jeans today! And if I didn't want to breathe at all, I could leave them on all day! ;) I keep reminding myself that the baby weight takes nine months to put on and nine months to take off, but I am having a harder time being patient this time around.
4. Sadly, I took down all of the Halloween decorations yesterday. The house always seems more festive when decorated for a holiday. There is usually just a bit of an emptiness in the house until I pull out all of the Christmas decorations- which I try to wait until we return from our Thanksgiving trip to do.
5. For only the second year since I can remember, there is no November Wingard Women's Weekend this year. Sad. Faye, my Mom, and I are pushing hard to try to get something on the calendar for January. I love this adult time with my mom, sister, aunts, cousins, and family friends and I have looked forward to it ever since I began joining in when I turned 21.
6. I am already excited about our trip to Illinois in a couple of weeks, but already dreading the drive. I hate long car trips. The first hour is kind of fun, but after that.... I have no idea how my husband stands spending so much time in the car each week.
7. I had to get into Luke's old clothes in the storage room and pull out size 4 pants for Drew. I just pulled out the size 3 pants three months ago and he has outgrown them already! This sudden growth spurt has me very thankful for hand me downs!
8. It looks as if Ben is selling our Santa Fe this weekend. While technically this is a very good thing considering it has been sitting in the street since Ben got his work car months ago, I am finding myself a little nostalgic. We got the Santa Fe when Gracie and Luke were just babies and I drove it for years before I became a mini-van driver. It was the last cute vehicle I will probably drive for a while.
9. Soccer ends this weekend. We will need to find another sport to keep Luke occupied this winter. The kid has a lot of energy!
10. I am currently a complete light-weight when it comes to enjoying an adult drink. One half of a glass of wine has me so sleepy that I can barely keep my eyes open. I guess the combination of eleven months without a drink and months and months of bad sleep makes for a really low tolerance. I am such a party girl these days.
11. A friend and I were laughing yesterday at just how much grooming it takes to keep four children presentable. Lots of laundry, nail trimming, haircuts, teeth brushing, and face wiping! No matter how much I do, it seems someone always needs something. I had Katie out on Thursday morning and an older woman came up to talk to us. I looked down into the stroller and noticed that Katie had a runny nose, goopy eyes, and spit up on her chin and shirt. I felt like a bad mother and wanted to say, "I just bathed her less than an hour ago, I promise! And these are fresh clothes! And I just wiped her eyes and nose as we got out of our van!"
12. I am feeling a bit guilty sitting here on the couch with my laptop and coffee while Ben is out in the cold at Luke's soccer game. It might seem that I have the harder of the two jobs this morning staying home with three kids while he gets to watch a soccer game, but Gracie and Drew are playing school together downstairs at the moment and Katie is napping, so my morning couldn't be much easier right now.
