{big changes}

I think many of you know that we've been in limbo for a couple months now about a potential promotion for Ben involving another relocation. The final word is in.... today Ben officially accepted a position in Knoxville, TN.

We are mixed in emotions about this. While we are a little sad to be leaving the Midwest for the first time in our lives and even more sad to be moving farther away from our wonderful families, we are so excited to begin this new chapter.

I am not sure what the next month or two of my life will look like. Ben officially starts his new position next week (!), so he will most likely be doing some traveling back and forth between the two states as he tries to wrap up his current position and transition to the new position. We have two different realtors coming to see us this weekend to help us get the house quickly on the market. We're going to have to take one step at a time, tackling one decision at a time. This may be my mantra for the next few weeks.

Wow! That is big news! But Tennessee is beautiful and you do have some extended family a few hours away.... Look on the bright side -- maybe your kids will develop a delightful Southern accent.

(Not to mention how well Patty was received in TN...she will probably be encouraged to visit frequently YEE-HAW!)

I can move to Knoxville and become a cougar - my life's ambition!!

I woke early this morning, stewing about how we will be able to spend the maximum time with you and Ben and the kidlets and just worrying about life. Things seems so much more worrisome at 5am!!
I am so proud of Ben and how well he's done - I never doubted that he would get whatever job he interviewed for. And we will just have to make more road trips!
We will be ready and willing to help out any way we can. I wish we could help out with the kids in March - go figure that the 4 days that I definitely can't help are the 4 days that you are going to be gone. Life is certainly funny.
Congratulations - and I will see you tomorrow.

Love,

Patti

Congratulations! So happy for you! You guys will have new exciting experiences and meet new friends and best of all Leslie--a new house for you to decorate! We will always find a way to get together!

Welcome to Tennessee! How exciting for your family (and admittedly, I'm excited to have some more family in these parts) I've only spent a couple days in Knoxville, but it seems like a great town. Having UT there makes it great for sports, the downtown area is adorable, and you'll have such easy access to the Smokies! The kids should love the rolling hills, and they are at a good age for meeting and making new friends easily. Plus, only you'll only be a few hours from Nashville! Please let me know if you guys need any help with anything. I'll be happy to drive over and take the kiddos to play or to a movie or something while you guys househunt! Congrats to Ben on the promotion!

PS- I'm sure this would NEVER happen, but please promise that the only orange the Hedenberg family will continue sporting is ILLINI orange. Tennessee's orange is just awful. A-W-F-U-L. :)
Congrats! I know it all seems a little overwhelming at the moment but it will also be so exciting for you. Just take it a day at a time and know that we will all make the effort to get together regularly. Of course you may find yourselves with a whole lot of house guests at any given time :-)

Congratulations! (Although I do have to admit I was pulling for Charlotte.) Knoxville is a pretty place with a lot going on and a day trip from here.
As a veteran of many moves (although not with three kids!), it all eventually does work out. I hope it means I see more of Nini as well.

funny that patti was stweing over this @ 5 a.m. I was too and found it hard to sleep. Not that my life is affected by this, you realize how much you love people when they go further from you -- even though I already knew I loved you all!! The reality that you are only a day away instead of a couple of hours away has taken awhile to set in. I am happy for you all and excited too! Love you all!

Ben- Thanks for the heads up! Congratulations! That sounds like a great opportunity.

Interestingly, half our family lives there and we've talked about moving there several times. So, maybe we'll be "neighbors" again sometime.

To sum up the way our family feels about all of this, I second Hollis' words-"If they are moving, then I am moving too!! It's stinky to move!"
When we get back home, I will help you out anyway I can! Use my house till then to escape from showings-
Love ya'll!

Congrats Ben, and Leslie, as you know you will have your hands full for a while but I know you have a great network there who will more than help you with all of this. Keep focusing on the positive exciting things to come and that will keep you moving in the right direction. I wish you the best of luck!
Love Rachel
