I had a hair appointment last night and during conversation, my hairdresser actually said to me, "I don't know how anyone can be a stay-at-home- mom. I would get so bored if I was home all day every day."
She wasn't trying to be offensive and I didn't take it that way. There is some truth to it; there are times when I am bored reading the same Dr. Suess book for a third time in a row or loading the dishwasher for the second time that day. But who isn't bored at work sometimes?
I get jealous of Ben at times. His career keeps him very busy, very mentally stimulated, and constantly around other adults. He wears nice clothes, goes out to lunch often, takes business trips, and gets a nice paycheck twice a month.
But I'm sure there are many days when he is jealous of my job too- I wear jeans and hoodies almost every day. I don't have to leave the house at all if I don't want to. I get to read books, play games, and do crafts every day. I have playdates with my friends and their kids. I can run errands throughout the day if I need to. I never have to run through a drive through for lunch. There is not a lot of stress involved in my job.
It's a nice gig, I'll admit it. :)
Luke is watching Handy Manny and everyone else in the house is still asleep. I love quiet starts to my day. Gracie is so very excited to go to school today- Ben is the "Mystery Reader" in her class and will be showing up right before lunchtime to read a book to the class and eat lunch with Gracie. She's so proud of her daddy and can't wait to have him in her classroom. Adorable.
Happy Friday, all!
