According to Drew, nowhere in the house is quite as much fun to play in than the pantry.

$1.09 spent on a box of Kleenex provided about twenty minutes of fun for Drew.

My wallet provides lots of entertainment on a daily basis. It came in handy last week during a long wait at the pediatrician's office.

And proof that the playroom is not as baby-proofed as I thought it was:
Drew likes to climb up on the couch. The scary part is that he doesn't yet understand how to safely get down. I'm thinking that when Ben returns home tonight from his business trip we just might be removing the couch from the playroom. I need at least one place in the house where I can safely leave him alone for a few minutes throughout the day!

His climbing skills are really impressive- and terrifying! He managed to climb onto a chair and then a table in the playroom, he almost climbed into the bathtub (he would have if I hadn't stopped him), he climbed onto the first shelf of a bookcase in the playroom, and has begun to try to climb out of his crib. From stories I've heard, he is taking after his Uncle Brian and Uncle Bryan.

All of this climbing makes life lots more interesting at our house.

That's handy...blame the Bry(i)ans! Joe was a climber as well and it seemed that I would just turn my head to do something and he would be on top of a table. Does Drew like to empty out drawers and bookshelves?

Yes to bookshelves, no to drawers so far. He does love the cupboard in the kitchen where I store all of the tippy cups and kid plates. He likes to take out all of the plates and restack them on the ground in front of the cupbaord. He also loves to take all of the cereal boxes off of the lowest shelf in the pantry. It would be so interesting to be able to hear his thoughts as he does it- is he imitating us or is he just enjoying the fact that he is able to move the objects?
When did Joe outgrow the climbing stage? I'm wondering how long I'm going to have to keep worrying so much....

He'll outgrow it - or at least learn how to get down off things. If you can teach him to turn around and back down the stairs and the couch, you'll be a little bit ahead of the game. I'm not sure that they outgrow it - they just get more careful or less fearless. Of course, Bryan WAS climbing out on the roof when he was 10 or so......
Drew is just so darn cute and so full of life - the pictures of him make me smile.
Thanks for brightening an otherwise gloomy day.

Leslie,
Uncle Brian NEVER outgrew the climbing. He simply went from drawers and bookshelves to bolders and mountains...
(See what you have to look forward to :)
