a lucky mommy
Luke, Drew, and I had a busy morning of running about a dozen errands. Drew took an almost two hour nap, staying asleep as his car seat was lifted into and out of his stroller at each and every stop. He's so squirmy in my arms lately and wants to be into everything, so his nap let me go so many more things done than I otherwise could have. Luke was great company and very into completing the tasks on my list. One snippet of conversation that had me smiling:
Luke: I know what I want to be when I grow up.
Leslie: Do you still want to own a zoo?
Luke: Not anymore. I want to be a mailman.
Leslie: Oh, really? What made you decide that?
Luke: If I was a mailman, then I could still see you every day when I brought you your mail.
Leslie: (smiling ear to ear) Well, that's a good idea. I'd love to see you every day. You don't have to bring me mail to get to see me. You can always see me anytime you want to.
Luke: I know.
pause
Luke: Maybe I'll be a doctor. Then you could come see me if you get sick. The nurse would have to let you in even if you weren't sick, though, cuz I'd be the boss doctor. Is the nurse the boss or is the doctor the boss?
Leslie: I'm pretty sure the doctor is the boss.
Luke: Good. Then I'll be a doctor when I grow up.
pause
Luke: And a magician.
pause
Luke: And a mailman.
:)
We stopped into McAllisters for lunch and the boys shared a grilled cheese sandwich and fruit. Luke and I were talking and Drew was thoroughly enjoying his meal when a woman stopped over and said to me, "Well, you are a lucky mommy, aren't you? They are just precious."
I looked at my two little boys, both dressed in little polo shirts and baseball caps, both with big blue eyes and messy faces, and felt my heart just about burst with love for them.
I am a lucky mommy.
