"Mama, can I have grilled cheese for breakfast? ......... I presume it is OK because it is like toast and we can have toast for breakfast....... Is heaven above the solar system? ..... Could we see when we were in heaven when we were babies? I don't think we could because Drew couldn't see when he was just born. I don't remember being born and I don't remember being in heaven. ...... I am smelling two things right now and one is not a good smell. (He is referring to my coffee and pinches one side of his nose.) There, if I hold this nostril closed I can only smell the good smells. ....... An emporer is a king, right? Why do they call him an emporer pengiun if he is only doing his job?.......... "

And so on and so on.

I just wanted to record very typical Luke conversation at this age.

I love that kid.

He asks the greatest questions - I love the way his mind works. He is definitely going to keep his teachers on their toes!

Now I know why Ella is so attracted to Luke. I think their minds work alike.

I need to start writing down what Ella says (and start updating my neglected little blog...). Molly told me today that Ella told her she "absolutely" wanted the air conditioner turned off. Her vocabulary cracks us up. She grasps everything - even recalling the word "cataracts" hours after I casually mentioned it in response to her 20-question game about why my dad's dog can't see.

It is so fun to watch kids develop. Especially the overly verbal ones who let you glimpse into how their minds work.

Keep posting Luke's observations/questions! And all the adorable Drew photos and Gracie's kindergarten impressions. I love finding new postings on your blog!
